
The Scholarship
The Hiroshima JET Scholarship Fund will award 1 student in Hiroshima Prefecture with a scholarship prize in the amount of ¥250,000 to be used towards an English-language, study abroad program of their choice.
It is open to all 2nd and 3rd year junior high school (JHS) & 1st and 2nd year senior high school (SHS) students with an interest in the English language and foreign cultures.

Prepare
Every summer, information packets are mailed out to all public junior and senior high schools in the prefecture that HJSF has on record of having an ALT.
The packets include letters to school principals, JTEs, and ALTs detailing the mission of HJSF, scholarship details, and how to promote the scholarship within schools.
*If you are an ALT whose school has not received an info packet by the end of July, please contact us so that we may update our records to include your school in the next year.

Apply
Once the scholarship season opens in the summer of each year, the application can be downloaded on the HJSF website.
Applicants must print, complete, and gather all the requested documents and mail them off by October 31st.
*Applications must be postmarked on or before October 31st in order to be accepted.

Interview
After the closing date, all applications will be reviewed. Applicants with satisfactory applications will be invited to interview (limited number). Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of their application status via email.
After interviews are completed, a winner will be selected.
